If
you ask me what I came to do in this world, I, an artist, will answer you:
I am here to live out loud "- Emile
Zola
Creating art is my passion. I’ve been creating art in one form or
another since I was a young girl. My formal training started fifteen years
ago when I took a pen and ink drawing class at the NH Institute of Arts
and Sciences. I was then motivated to continue with fine art education
classes at UNH and Notre Dame College and later studied for five years
under local artist, Sheila Psaledas.
I live in Deerfield, New Hampshire where my family and friends give me
tremendous support. I work primarily in pastels and watercolor. My work
has been exhibited in numerous exhibitions throughout New Hampshire and
the seacoast area. I am a member of the Pawtuckaway
and Manchester Artists Associations.
I use
color as an expressive element to transform a simple landscape, or
reflection of light, into an exciting composition. Most of my work is done
in the studio using my photographic references and on-site sketches.
However, plein air painting is most inspiring for me. My rural
surroundings and the beauty of nature forever provide me with creative
ideas. I admire the pastel works of Mary Cassatt and Edgar Degas,
and most
importantly, Claude Monet, for his use of color and impressionistic style.
